I started with a free to list directory, Going well until the spam came

So wanted to start a directory list but the spam kept on coming, So changed back to directory of websites and now charge for a web listing (no paid ones yet, I don't really want to check 100 - 200 free web submissions every day (most not submitting to correct category, or submitting spam, Maybe 50 good sites out of 200 submitted every day) but if you want your directory listed, Let us know the info when you are ready and will list for free.

A few years ago i run a very popular directory site, Had over 18000 listings in 6 months, Only 2 paid ones, I was hoping this time round things would change but i think most webmasters pay someone else to list there site on directories or most webmasters just don't want to pay, I have maybe 95% people submitting, 5% people browsing or searching directory.
