language not updating?

I am trying to edit the language in languages/en.php. Even though I can see the changes if I view/edit in my ftp client, the edits are not relected on the site. No changes show but if I delete the entire file the site disappears so I must be in the right directories. I have looked everywhere but can't find another language file. Any ideas?

I deleted and re-installed and this fixed it.

You should have suppress only the files in cache and compiled folders (not htaccess), it would have fix it !

Any time tou make an improvement on files, you must suppress that files.

please if you can elaborate on this ... I added a new language ( changes the lang name in file ) deleted all files in cache and complied but still languages list is not showing my language just English and French

using v 2.0

did you create a language in the folder admin/languages too ?
did your name of your language file is 2 digits, according to the flags.php names ?

and then clean the cache

(or delete the files in cache and compiled folders except htaccess) by ftp

Many thanks working fine now I didn't notice the language files in admin ...
