in my directory I will only need United States for language, is there a way to make that default when people are submittting websites?

If you only accept one country, why don't you disable the flag display?
It can be done in the settings of the admin cp under "Display the flag of the countries:"
then show the US flag anywhere like I did on my Canadian directory. :D

I tried the edit suggested and it diid not seem to work....... you still have to choose a language
