New search engines that are popping up across the Web strive to make searches faster, smarter, more personal and more visually interesting.
Some sites, like Twine and hakia, will try to personalize searches, separating out results you would find interesting, based on your Web use. Others, like Searchme, offer iTunes-like interfaces that let users shuffle through photos and images instead of the standard list of hyperlinks. Kosmix bundles information by type -- from Twitter, from Facebook, from blogs, from the government -- to make it easier to consume.
Wolfram Alpha, set to launch Monday, is more of an enormous calculator than a search: It crunches data to come up with query answers that may not exist online until you search for them. And sites like Twitter are trying to capitalize on the warp-speed pace of online news today by offering real-time searches of online chatter -- something Google's computers have yet to replicate.

Re: New Search Engine for any information
just started back selling on EBay. It seems I waste so much time and energy "trying" to research products. Does anyone know of a specific search engine that would be more conclusive than the others. Its not so much the value, but for instance, today, i have a brand new lamp by "Hampton Bay" and I would like to be able to have the model number and how much it retails for. Another instance, I have a Westclox wall clock I have not been able to locate any information on the specific clock. The value of plastic alarm clocks (vintage) versus metal clocks in other words, I need information, not just a list of "sponsored results". Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Re: New Search Engine for any information
New Search Engine for any information, also known as SEO, is the art and science of making web pages attractive to the search engines.
The better optimized the page is, the higher a ranking it will achieve in search engine result listings. This is especially critical because most people who use search engines only look at the first page or two of the search results, so for a page to get high traffic from a search engine, it has to be listed in those first two pages.
So search engine optimization focuses on techniques such as making sure that each web page has appropriate title tags and meta tags, and that the keyword or key phrases for the page are distributed throughout the content in a way that the particular search engine will like.
