Categroy counts problem

Front page of my directory shows 0 ZERO for each category yet there are over 80,000 entries in the directory.

Any ideas what has gone wrong here?

Did you try to delete the files in compiled and cache folders ?

yes , it is a common advice,
most problemes are due to those files not synchronized

the cache and compiled files will be reconstructed when you open again your directory.
you can delete them by pressing the button "delete cache" on the admin panel or by ftp (then leave the htaccess file in the folders).

Effi, i did this but no change in the category count, is it possible to de acitivate the category count so that (0) does not appear?

No, didnt make any use of the migration script as I encountered problems with it on a previous attempt.

I have the same issue with the count, the main catagories are fine but when you go into a sub category, the count is set to (0).

I checked the database and the validatedSitesCount is at zero so it meants the error is more than likely when the site is added to the database, rather than the code to show the count.

just tested it by editing the database and the count shows, so the value is not being entered when the database is being added. I take it the number in the validatedSitesCount cell is just taken out and 1 added to it each time a site is either added or validated, might be something to do with automatic validation rather than manually.

We are using automatic validating so will try manual and post results.

If anyone had any luck with this please advise, it will save me hunting for it.
